Optim Medical Center-Tattnall Receives Prestigious Award

At a recent ceremony, Optim Medical Center-Tattnall was recognized as one of America’s 100 Best for Joint Replacement by Healthgrades, the online resource for information about physicians, hospitals and health care providers. The prestigious award was presented to Optim Medical Center-Tattnall CEO Rob Snipes by Alicia Carroll, Director of Quality Solutions for Healthgrades.

“Receiving this award for the sixth consecutive year highlights Optim’s unwavering focus on delivering safe, compassionate, quality care to our patients,” said Snipes. “These awards show that our efforts to provide the best care available in our region are being recognized and prove our ongoing commitment to our patients and our community. We never forget it’s about patient care first and foremost.”

The hospital was the only one in the region to be named by Healthgrades as America’s 100 Best, placing them in the top 5% nationwide for joint replacement surgery outcomes.

Optim Medical Center-Tattnall was also recognized for the following clinical achievements:

 ·       Five-Star Recipient for Total Knee Replacement for 8 Years in a Row (2012-2019)

·       Five-Star Recipient for Total Hip Replacement for 6 Years in a Row (2014-2019)

·       Five-Star Recipient for Spinal Fusion Surgery for 4 Years in a Row (2016-2019)

Every year, Healthgrades evaluates hospital performance at almost 4,500 hospitals nationwide for 32 of the most common inpatient procedures and conditions using all-payer data provided by 15 states and the District of Columbia.*

The achievement is part of findings released in the Healthgrades 2019 Report to the Nation. The new report demonstrates how clinical performance differs dramatically between hospitals nationally, regionally and at the local level, and the impact that this variation has on health outcomes. For example, from 2015-2017, patients treated at hospitals receiving the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement Award have, on average a 63.0% lower risk of experiencing a complication while in the hospital than if they were treated in hospitals that did not receive the award.*  Additionally, from 2015-2017, patients treated at hospitals which did not receive the America’s 100 Best Hospitals for Joint Replacement Award are, on average 2.71 times more likely to experience one or more complications in the hospital than if they were treated at hospitals that did receive the award.*

* Statistics are based on Healthgrades analysis of MedPAR data for years 2015 through 2017 and represent three-year estimates for Medicare patients only.
