At Optim Health System, compassionate care extends beyond treatment plans and procedures. It is reflected in the everyday actions of team members who make patients, families and coworkers feel supported, valued and cared for.
This week, Optim proudly recognized three outstanding employees through its DAISY and BEE Award programs:
- Daniel Sayles, RN, DAISY Award Recipient, Optim Medical Center-Tattnall
- LaDonna Scott, MA, BEE Award Recipient, Optim Medical Center-Tattnall
- Brandi Collins, BEE Award Recipient, Optim Primary Care-Metter
The DAISY Award honors nurses who provide extraordinary clinical care and compassion, while the BEE Award recognizes non-nursing team members whose contributions help create exceptional patient experiences.
“The DAISY and BEE awards celebrate the individuals who make a meaningful difference in the lives of our patients and their families every day,” said Lora Duncan, Chief Nursing and Clinical Operations Officer for Optim Health System. “Daniel, LaDonna and Brandi exemplify our commitment to compassionate, patient-centered care and the teamwork that defines our organization. We are proud to recognize their dedication and service.”
DAISY Award Recipient: Daniel Sayles, RN
Daniel was nominated by a patient’s family member who described the exceptional compassion he showed during a hospital visit. The nomination praised Daniel for treating the patient and family “like actual family” while providing reassurance and support throughout their experience.
The family member shared that Daniel helped ease anxiety through conversation, kindness and attentive care, writing:
“I’ve never felt more at home than this night with Daniel. He deserves recognition. You don’t come across people like this but once in a lifetime.”
BEE Award Recipient: LaDonna Scott, MA
LaDonna received a BEE Award nomination from a patient’s family member following a total knee replacement procedure. The nomination highlighted her professionalism, attentiveness and calm response during the patient’s recovery.
In addition to ensuring the patient’s safety and comfort, LaDonna took time to thoroughly explain post-operative care and answer questions.
“LaDonna was very patient. She treated my mother-in-law like she was a family member and listened to us. She was a joy to have.”
BEE Award Recipient: Brandi Collins
Brandi was nominated by a coworker for her exceptional teamwork, positive attitude and commitment to helping others.
According to the nomination, Brandi consistently goes above and beyond to support patients and coworkers, creating a welcoming environment throughout the clinic.
