Don’t let pain hold you back!

Relieve your arthritis pain and get back to the things you love with robotic-assisted joint replacement. The surgeons at Optim Medical Center-Tattnall and Optim Surgery Center are experts in robotic-assisted joint replacement and specialists in individually tailoring your joint replacement – removing only the arthritic tissue and leaving your healthy bone.

Surgeons using robotic-assisted technology are able to offer you:

  • More accurate implant positioning
  • Reduced risk of injury to adjacent tissues
  • Smaller incisions leading to a faster, less painful recovery
  • More natural feeling after surgery

It is important to understand that your surgery is performed by your orthopedic surgeon who uses the robotic technology to assist before and during the surgery. Our experienced team of surgeons utilize Mako SmartRobotics™ and OmniBotics® robotic technologies to assist in some joint replacement surgeries.

How Mako SmartRobotics™ Works

SmartRobotics is an innovative solution for many suffering from painful arthritis of the knee. Mako uses 3D CT-based planning software so your surgeon can know more about your anatomy to create a personalized joint replacement surgical plan. This 3D model is used to preplan and assist your surgeon in performing your knee replacement.

In the operating room, your surgeon follows your personalized surgical plan while preparing the bone for the implant. The surgeon guides Mako’s robotic arm within the predefined area, and Mako’s AccuStop™ technology helps the surgeon stay within the planned boundaries that were defined when the personalized preoperative plan was created.

How OmniBotics® Works

OMNIBotics is a robotic-assisted system used by surgeons to accurately plan and perform total knee replacement. Computer guidance allows the surgeon to measure and track the knee anatomy and plan the implant placement to best fit the specific patient. The plan is optimized to restore proper soft tissue balance and leg alignment, two critical factors to knee replacement outcomes.
