BIOGRAPHY
Marissa Villafuerte-Brooks, MS, LAT, ATC is the Head Athletic Trainer for the City of Statesboro. Marissa works with the firefighters, police officers, and all other city employees.
Prior to working with Optim, Marissa served as Graduate Assistant Athletic Trainer at Georgia Southern University for the Statesboro, Georgia firefighters and police officers. During her time as a graduate assistant, Marissa gathered data to be able to show why having an athletic trainer is a necessity to tactical athletes. While in her undergrad she worked with many sports and her senior rotation was focused on women’s basketball. Also, with a professor in her final year of undergrad she helped the Cleveland, TN fire department with there recruits and hydration status through the recruit class.
Marissa received her Masters of Science in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from Georgia Southern University in May 2021. She received her Bachelors of Science in Athletic Training in May 2019 at Lee University in Cleveland, Tennessee. Marissa is a native of Omaha, NE.
