National Nurse Practitioner Week is held annually to celebrate the exceptional health care providers and to remind lawmakers of the importance of removing outdated barriers to practice so nurse practitioners (NPs) will be allowed to practice to the full extent of their experience and education.
For more than half a century, NPs have been providing primary, acute and specialty health care to millions of patients across the lifespan. NPs evaluate patients, order and interpret tests, make diagnoses, write prescriptions and bring a comprehensive perspective to health care in nearly one billion patient visits each year.
Named the #1 Best Job and Best Health Care Job by U.S. News & World Report, NPs can be found in clinics, hospitals, emergency rooms, urgent care centers, nursing homes and private practices. As clinicians who blend clinical expertise with an added emphasis on health management, NPs bring a comprehensive perspective to health care and continually rise to meet our nation’s health care challenges.
Optim Medical Center-Screven is proud to recognize the NPs in our emergency room setting: Jim Campbell FNP-C; Sean DeMeyer FNP-BC; Stacey Tapley FNP-BC/C; and Joshua Woodley FNP. We are especially grateful for the NP in our Sylvania Rural Health Clinic, Mrs. Karen Anderson FNP-BC. These providers are the heart of health care!
