For your convenience we have compiled FAQ’s on some of the most common questions patients ask about billing and their insurance coverage. By giving you a summary of your financial rights and responsibilities, we hope this will allow you to concentrate on what’s most important; getting you feeling back to you.

Q. HOW MAY I PAY?

A. We accept payment by cash, check, VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express, and CareCredit. A photo ID and insurance card(s) are required at each visit.

Q. CAN I PAY MY BILL ONLINE?

A. Yes! Please visit our online bill pay for payment options.

Q. WHO DO I CALL IF I HAVE A QUESTION ABOUT MY BILL?

A. Call 912.644.3362. You may speak with a billing manager about your bill Monday – Friday from 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM.

Q. DO I NEED A REFERRAL?

A. Some health insurance plans require patients to obtain a referral from their Primary Care Physician (PCP) before seeing a healthcare specialist. If you are unsure, please contact your insurance company directly. If a referral is needed and we have not received the required referral prior to your appointment, you will be rescheduled.

Q. DOES OPTIM TAKE MY INSURANCE?

A. Please see the list below. As plan contracts are subject to change at any time, it is our patients’ responsibility to verify our participation in your insurance plan.

Clinics: Anthem BCBS; Aetna; Amerigroup; Cigna; Coventry; United Healthcare; Principle Edge; The Care Network; Industry Buying Group; Tricare Standard & Prime; Medicare Advantage; Medicare; Medicaid

Facilities: Optim Health System facilities accept a wide array of commercial plans as well as most Medicaid and Medicare plans. We also work with most MVA and Worker’s Compensation claims. If you have questions about your policy specifically, please call:

  • Optim Surgery Center | 912.629.3508
  • Optim Medical Center-Tattnall | 912.557.1217
  • Optim Medical Center-Screven | 912.564.7426

Q. ARE MY DOCTOR’S CHARGES INCORPORATED INTO MY HOSPITAL OR SURGERY CENTER BILL?

A. No, your physician’s bill is separate from the hospital or surgery center bill. You will receive separate bills for medical services performed by other contracted professional medical personnel. They may work at our hospital or surgery center, but do not work for Optim, such as radiologists, pathologists and anesthesiologists. Please contact their private offices with questions about their bills.

Q. WHAT IF I’VE BEEN INVOLVED IN AN ACCIDENT?

A. We will file either your auto med-pay insurance or health insurance coverage as primary if your plan is listed on our accepted insurance policies. If you choose to have us file your claims under a TPL/MVA policy, we will file any health insurance as secondary once the med-pay benefits have been exhausted. You will be required to pay $350.00 prior to being see. This excluded Medicare patients as we are required to file auto med-pay and third-party liability policies before submitting the claim to Medicare.

Q. WHAT IF MY CHILD NEEDS TO SEE A DOCTOR?

A. A parent or legal guardian must accompany patients who are 17 years and younger on the patient’s first visit. The accompanying adult is responsible for payment of the amount.
