BIOGRAPHY
Jeff Weems, M.Ed, ATC, is the Head Athletic Trainer at Jeff Davis High School and is affiliated with Optim Sports Medicine through the Vidalia office. Jeff is in his second stint at Jeff Davis High School as he first worked with JDHS through an outreach program from 2000 – 2005 and returned to JDHS in 2017 on a full-time basis.
Jeff earned his B.S. degree in Athletic Training from the University of West Alabama in 1994 where he worked with the football, baseball and basketball teams. He then completed his M.Ed in Health Promotion at Auburn University in 1997 where he served as a graduate assistant athletic trainer with the football team for three seasons.
Jeff’s work experience includes five years as a Certified Athletic Trainer in the N.Y. Mets organization, a summer internship with the Atlanta Falcons, seven years as the Director of Sports Medicine for Coffee Regional Medical Center, seven years as a territory sales rep with RS Medical and four years as a project manager with Optim Orthopedics in Douglas, GA. Through the years, Jeff has worked with many high schools across South Georgia including Atkinson County, Bacon County, Citizen’s Christian Academy, Clinch County, Coffee County, and Pierce County. He’s also served South Georgia State College as their certified athletic trainer for over eight years.
Jeff’s awards include:
- Horace C. Hunt Outstanding Student Athletic Trainer of the Year (Univ. of West Alabama)
- Hughston Clinic Foundation Scholarship (Auburn Univ.)
- Eastern League Athletic Trainer of the Year (N.Y. Mets)
